Make Money With Horses
There is a saying: To make a little money with horses, start with a lot of money. Don advises how to make money.

There are a couple of very simple things you can do to
assure your success.

First decide what it is you want.

Most people who want a horse business really don’t know what
kind of horse business they want. Sounds ridiculous, but it’s true.

Ask most people who think they are already in a horse
business and they can’t tell you in 10 words or less what they do
specifically that actually makes them a profit. (Of course, most of
them aren’t making a profit.)

Do you want to train horses? If you say that, you are
almost sure to fail. You must be specific. What will make you
successful is deciding exactly want you really want. Think about and
decide in detail.

Now write down, in detail, exactly what you really want.

You say you don’t have to write it down…you’ll remember.

Here’s an interesting statistic; researchers have found that
80% of those people who write down their goals achieve their goals.

Also interesting is that only 5 per cent of people ever
write down any goal.

By not writing down a specific goal, you almost assure your failure.

The second step is to have a solid plan of action and to
understand that “perception is reality.”

Your solid plan of action also has to be specific. If
you’ve decided you are going to train Quarter horses to do competitive
trail and qualify for the World Championships, then you must establish
not only what horse you will train, but you’ll have to set progress
markers along the line to determine how well things are going. You’ll
have to decide what shows you’ll attend in order to win points to
qualify for the World Championships, and by what date you expect to be
qualified and ready.

If you don’t have a horse to train for someone else, then
purchase a horse to train for yourself.

Perception is reality…potential clients must see you as a
trainer who is training trail horses to go to the World Championships.
If a potential client perceives you in that way, that potential
client will soon be a reality client.

Your solid plan of action will also include the steps you’ll
take to get good at training AQHA trail horses, and then how to get
better (you’ll learn a lot as you go) and finally, by experience, you
be able to write down the skills and knowledge you’ll need to become
the best.

Your success might not come in the first year…or even the
second. But if you know what you want---what you truly want---and you
have a solid plan of action, all your thoughts will be on achieving
your goals.

Thought attracts itself.

If you thoughts are always on what you want and your plan
for getting it, then everything you do, whether it is obvious to you
at the time or not, will work in your favor to accomplish your goal.

Be specific. If your thought is, “I want to train horses,”
that is probably what you’ll end up doing. Most likely you’ll never
make a dime of profit and you’ll never win a World Championship.

But if your thought is specific, you can have a solid plan
of action and you can create the perception that becomes the reality.
